Submitted 2010-02-02 13:00:29 Alessandro Botticelli was born in Italy in 1445. This talented European artist showed his natural ability for painting,

, at a very young age. Botticelli received a great break early in life, as he was able to be taught by the spectacular Filippo Lippi, who was able to teach Alessandro Botticelli the most effective way to give transparency, to his pictures and paintings. Filippo Lippi demonstrated this with countless hours of outright drawings, so that by the time Alessandro Botticelli left his mentor, he was more than ready to astound and set ablaze the artistic world of the 15th century. The world was a much different place way back then, and it was the artist, who commanded the most respect, and was treated as royalty, only if they had considerable talent, which Alessandro Botticelli possessed.
Another great influence, upon Alessandro Botticelli, was the Pollaiolo Brothers of Northern Italy. What the Pollaiolo Brothers gave to Alessandro Botticelli, in the form of artistic endowment, was the ability to put in motion, his work. This is not to say that Alessandro Botticelli lacked emotion in his previous paintings, only two state that subsequent paintings after the teachings by the Pollaiolo brothers, became some of the most spectacular works of art, known to man. Alessandro Botticelli is seen as one of the most influential artists of the Italian Renaissance and his painting, Primavera and the Birth of Venus, prove why this is so. Both of those above mentioned paintings, were financed by the Medici organization,

, and exemplified the rise of secularism, as the commanding force, in all of Italy, during the 1500s.
The magnificent Primavera large format oil painting, has been called the best painting to come out of Italy, in the 15th century. Thats a huge honor and one that only goes to Alessandro Botticelli, for his magnificent work on the Primavera. Currently the Primavera is housed in Uffizi Gallery of Florence, where it has been since the 15th century, without being relocated or moved. The Primavera painting was created to announce the arrival of spring, which is what Primavera means in Italian. The picture painting was long assumed it to be a gift for 14 year old Lorenza di Pierfransesco, when the estate villa was purchased. It was actually discovered to be the property of Lorenzos brother, Giovanni di Pierfransesco, as a recently discovered inventory proved. It seems that the Primavera had been displayed in Florences city Palace, ever since it was given by Alessandro Botticelli to the Medici.
One of the hard pressed to find a more interesting and vibrant story than that of the Primavera, and one that means so much to a nation of people, as this exquisite painting does to the Italians. The painting itself, depicts beautiful women, the rites of spring, enjoying the fruit of a giant tree, with a medieval demon beast harassing one of the sprites. This painting brings forth many emotions to the onlooker, with the coming of spring being just one the deep emotional impacts, of this majestic and masterful work of art. What Alessandro Botticelli accomplishes with the Primavera, is the overall feeling and belief system of 15th century Europeans. Inasmuch as these people still believed in mythological creatures, to an extent, along with a strong belief in G d, coupled with the Pagan like qualities of the changing of the seasons, all compiled together, means very strong emotional feelings, and of either attachment are loss. This is left up to the onlooker as Alessandro Botticelli, had so cleverly designed.
